Police state anyone?
The text of this video may be slightly over the top, but it brings up some great questions. Why were 37 cyclists detained last Saturday night after a manager at the CVS on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks allegedly called about a cyclist looking fellow shoplifting, but with little description other than that. When police arrived, they detained and searched people of all ages, race, height and gender.
What would have happened if the only describing factor was race instead of “cyclist”? Would the police round up any person of said race for over an hour about a shoplifting call?
In the end, a cyclist was arrested for shoplifting a five-dollar beer (two others were arrested and released on scene for possession of marijuana) with more details still coming out. We’re glad the shoplifter was arrested, but should have the other 36 been put through that process.
my charges will be dropped when i go to court…. my lawyer told me cause it was a false arrest and no one stoled wiskey that night or even beer.. the person who tried to steal was stopped at the door…..
